Shah e Zinda, a complex in Samarkand.(Post 231)

Shah e Zinda  a complex of  Mausoleums dating back to 7th century in Samarkand, Uzbekistan.  It is said that Kusam Ibn Abbas a cousin of Prophet(pboh) is buried there. I took the pictures in 1968 long before the restoration began. This and other pictures to follow show the consequence of an earthquake that struck the area in1966 and neglect. Khaliq

Registan Square complex in Samarkand, Uzbekistan.  I took the pictures in 1968 long before the restoration began. This and other pictures to follow shows  the result of a earthquake that hit the area in1966 and neglect on the buildings in the Registan Square.
