Rumi a overview&. Unless there... (325)..



Maulana Jalaluddin Rumi was born in Balkh, Afghanistan in 1207 and died in 1273 and is buried in Konya, Turkey.  Al Ghazali (1065-1111) had a great influence on Rumi. His father Burhan Uddin was also a known scholar. At the age of 34 Rumi had become a well  known scholar and a professor. After  meeting Shams, a Sufi ,he embarked on a spiritual search that lasted 13 years. From 1245 to1261, he wrote fifty thousand versess known as Diwan-Shams e Tabrazi. After 1261 in twelve years he wrote 25,700 verses known as Masnave.The best English translation of Masnavi is by Professor R A Nicholson of Cambridge University done during 1925 and 1940. It is in 6 volumes, called "Masnavi of Rum". Here are two short selections from Masnavi. Khaliq

1. "The Prophet said "Trust in God, yet tie the camel's leg.'
'The worker is the friend of God';
Through trust in Providence neglect not to use means.
Go, O fatalists, practice trust with self-exertion,
Exert yourself to attain your objects, bit by bit.
In order to succeed, strive and exert yourselves;
If you strive not for your objects, ye are fools." 
 

2. Unless there be truth, how should there be falsehood?

That falsehood receives brilliance from the truth..

Without truth fantasy exists not in the world.
Truth is the Night of Power (Qudar) is hidden among

Causation from Masnavi of Rumi God hath established a rule and causes and means for the sake of who seek Him under the canopy. Most things come to pass according to the rule, but some time His power breaks the rule. He established a goodly rule and custom; He made the evidentiary miracle a breach of custom. O thou who art ensnared by causes, do not imagine that the Causer is defunct! The Causer brings into existence whatsoever He will, His Omnipotence can destroy all causes; But, for the most part, He lets the execution of His Will follow the course of causation, In order that seeker may be able to pursue their object of desire. Where there is no cause, what way should the seeker pursue? He must have a visible cause in the way he is going. Causes are films on the eyes, for not every eye is worthy to contemplate His work.

What is Halal . (Post 1)

The term Halal is generally associated  with meat or food. It indicates that meat is from an animal that has been slaughtered in Muslim way. It also indicates that  a substance contains no pork products. Halal simply means permissible or lawful . The term equally applies to income or  wealth whether it is halal or non halal. Any income derived from breaking the law of land, by dishonesty, by paying unfair wages, using unfair means, bribery, gambling is not halal. So is income derived from sale or  distribution  of  substances or activities that are prohibited by Islam such as pork products, Alcohol,  can ibis, drugs, dope etc. One is entitled to enjoy an income or  wealth obtained by halal means. But its display and boasting is  not halal. One should enjoy wealth with humility.  Islam requires that object or goal one wants to achieve is halal and means to achieve that object or goal are also hal...
