Muslim Monuments. Taj Mahal in Agra India was commissioned by Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan as a mausoleum for his wife Mumtaz Mahal. The work commenced in 1632 and completed in 1653.
Please note that marble in this picture is shinier because this is a old picture. I took it in 1968 before the expansion polluting industries in the Agra region took place. UNISCO restoration has improved the complex.

His under graduate degree is in physics and mathematics from MIT. Masters from Harvard in earth sciences and a PhD in history of science and philosophy also from Harvard in 1958.
